Support the WashU community by providing students with the comforts of home.
- Help students connect with their new city and feel at home, while away from home.
- Slow down and enjoy some delightful dinner guests 2–3 times a year.
- Build meaningful relationships with some of the nation’s best students and most outstanding young adults.
- We’ll try to match you with students who have similar interests as your family members.
How Do I Become a Host Family?
Send an Email
Email Risa Zwerling Wrighton at Zwerling@wustl.edu.
Include information about your family, professions, interests and the location of your home. We will get back to you with more information.
Contact Matched Students
After receiving the names and contact information of matched students, host families will contact them to finalize dinner plans and make transportation arrangements. There will be a reception at the chancellor’s residence for all program participants in the spring.
Start Home Plate
Home Plate families are asked to host 2–3 home-based informal dinners over the course of the academic year for a small group of Washington University students.
Families may choose to continue hosting the same students year after year, if so desired. Some take on a new student or two each year and have growing families! Look at our Facebook page to see photos and comments from enthusiastic program participants.
